Outdoor performance of his own orchestrations with members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra conducted by George Kent (Summer Pops, June 2002). Has recorded with Lou Rawls and the Fabulous Thunderbirds, among many others. Been nominated for two Grammy Awards (1983 & 1984) in the "Best Traditional Blues" category.
Played with the original Blues Brothers - John Belushi & Dan Ackroyd (1978). Opened for Eric Clapton at Royal Albert Hall for 12 concerts, playing with Jimmie Vaughan (1993). Performances on the main stage at the Montreux Jazz Festival (Montreux, Switzerland) include: openings for BOB DYLAN (1998); for ERIC CLAPTON'S "LEGENDS" (1997); doing a duo of Jazz-Hot with JEFF HEALEY (1997); opening the Blues Summit with ETTA JAMES and B.B. KING (1993) and the first Montreux in Japan Jazz Festival with GEORGE DUKE & MCCOY TYNER (1998)…
